The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office was called last Thursday evening to investigate the theft of a tire from a residence on Highway 27 in the Gore Community.

A responding deputy spoke with Mike Bowers who said that his neighbor had told him about a female taking a tire from property between the neighbor and Mr. Bowers.  Earlier that day another deputy has talked with the neighbor about a woman taking the tire and carrying it back to the Summerville Motel.  When questioned by the first deputy, the woman claimed to have permission to take the tire.

When the second deputy tried to locate the woman in question, she could not be found.  However, deputies did find a 2005 gray, Ford Taurus with the driver’s side wheel and tire off located behind the Gore Community Food Mart.

The incident is still under investigation.
