An inmate at the Chattooga County Jail says that someone stole her identity while she has been incarcerated.
According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, the inmate said that sometime between April and now, someone has used her identity to purchase a vehicle. The inmate said that she contacted Transunion about the incident and they told her that someone had purchased the vehicle and then stopped making payments on it.
The inmate told the responding officer that she won’t be able to get a car loan when she gets out of jail because her credit has been affected.
The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.
