More residents at Chattooga County’s only long-term nursing facility have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting area pastors and churches to hold a prayer vigil outside the nursing facility on Monday evening.

A call went out on social media on Monday afternoon for pastors, churches and individuals to gather at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation to pray for the patients, staff and administration at the facility.

According to the latest numbers released by the Georgia Department of Public Health on Monday, Oakview Nursing Home in Summerville shows 82 of 119 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 with one death and zero recoveries. Twenty-nine employees have tested COVID-19 positive.

In all 69% of the residents at Oakview are now testing positive for COVID-19.
