Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Summerville has been hit hard by COVID-19 over the past few weeks. The long-term care facility has 117 residents and eighty-eight have tested positive for coronavirus. The good news is half of those patients have recovered.
On Friday, WZQZ News spoke with Reno Lambert, Director of Oakview. Mr. Lambert said that 44 residents have recovered, and they expect more numbers to be added to that total by the first of next week.
Thirty-five employees at Oakview have tested positive, and nineteen of them have recovered and are back to work, according to Lambert.
Mr. Lambert said, “We are slowly getting through this very difficult time and I will say, not surprisingly, this community has been extraordinarily supportive. We have had so many churches and citizens bring food for staff as well as many calls just to offer prayers and well wishes. Our incredibly strong staff has made this crisis so much more bearable and the residents and their family members are all very supportive and understanding. Words cannot express how deeply grateful we are for the support.”
