The Trion Lions Club and the Connect City Church in Summerville are giving away free food to anyone in need from 10 a.m. – noon this Saturday at the church’s parking lot behind BB&T Bank. It’s a drive-through food distribution.

“We will have 1,000 boxes of food to distribute with volunteers loading one box per vehicle. No need to park or get out — follow the signs, and volunteers will be there to help show you the way. Please have a place ready in your vehicle. All food is being sent by the USDA to help farmers and families, and will be handled with safety precautions. This is a signature project of Lions Clubs International with a dual focus on Hunger and Disaster Relief,” said event organizer Jan Morris.

This event is in partnership with the USDA, T&T Produce, the Trion Lions Club, Connect City Church, Community Resource Center, Boy Scouts, Future Farmers of America and Floyd Home Health.

Donations of used eyeglasses, heading aids, and cellphones are welcomed.
