Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that property tax bills went out in the mail on Thursday.

Tax Commissioner Hampton says that property owners should start seeing the tax bills in their mailboxes in the next few days.  Hampton said, “I want to say ‘thank-you’ to the postal workers, who already have a lot on them that will be making sure these tax bills get to the property owners.”

The tax commissioner also has a reminder for property tax payers:  While tax bills are due December 1st, you don’t have to wait until then to pay the bill.  Also, you can start making payments in increments.  Hampton said, “Sometimes breaking up the total amount into smaller increments is a better way for property owners to make sure that their tax bills are paid on time.”

You can pay your tax bill in person at the Tax Commissioner’s Office located in the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex.  You can also pay your tax bill online on the tax commissioner’s website here , but keep in mind there is a credit card processing charge added to the total tax bill if you pay by credit card.
