The Trion Town Council met on Tuesday evening, and after almost two months of delay, passed a fiscal-year budget.

The council also made some important decisions dealing with economic development.

Mayor Larry Stansell told WZQZ News that the council approved a five-year, graduated tax abatement for Dixie Color to aid in the Phase II expansion at their current location at Trion’s Industrial Park.  The expansion is expected to bring around forty new jobs to the area.

Also, the Trion Town Council voted to give land at the industrial park to Remedium Life Sciences. Mayor Stansell said that was a good deal for the Town of Trion and Chattooga County, as there was no tax abatement attached to the deal.

Mayor Stansell said both of these moves will guarantee additional jobs in Trion and the county.
