He has lived longer than any of the other forty-four men who have served as President of the United States, and on Thursday, former President Jimmy Carter celebrated his 96th birthday in his beloved hometown of Plains, Georgia.

Due to COVID-19, President and Mrs. Carter wore masks and sat outside their modest home in Plains while their friends and neighbors held a parade that featured cars, trucks, golf carts and tractors with peanut wagons.

The Carters were pictured waving to members of the parade, flanked by two of their children and Secret Service agents.

President Carter’s pastor, Rev. Tony Lowden was in the parade representing the Carter’s church, Maranatha Baptist.  Pastor Lowden said that the community is proud of their most famous residents and never miss the opportunity to express their appreciation.

President Carter has receded from public life for the most part since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year.
