Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan with Mount Vernon’s Bill Sabo

Georgia’s Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan was in Chattooga County on Tuesday to visit Mount Vernon Mills in Trion.

The Lt. Governor spoke with officials at Mount Vernon Mills as the mill is celebrating its 175th year in operation here in Chattooga County.

Trion Mayor Larry Stansell told WZQZ News that the Town of Trion was excited to have the Lt. Governor visit and listen to concerns about the operations at the mill.

COVID-19 slowed down production at the mill and they are now operating with a reduced number of employees.

The Lt. Governor was joined by local officials as they toured the facility to learn more about what the state government can do to help support the oldest, continually operating denim mill in the United States.
