A Menlo man reported a scam to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office after he was contacted by someone saying that they were from the IRS. The caller told the complainant that they “possibly had warrants for his arrest”. The complainant told a responding deputy that he did give the caller the last four digits of his social security number, but realized it was probably a scam after he hung up. The responding deputy told him that he should check with his bank and the social security office to make sure his account and personal information had not been compromised.
