Heavy rain, gusty winds, a few snow showers and the coldest temperatures of the season are all in the forecast for the next couple of days, according to a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia.

The statement says, “A storm system along the Louisiana Gulf coast will move NE across the area Today and Tonight. At this time, heavy rainfall appears to be the primary threat, which could lead to localized flooding concerns. We will also see a few lightning strikes and some gusty winds mainly across central GA through tonight. As the storm system exits the area Monday There will be the potential for light snow across far north Georgia late Monday night and Tuesday morning as the coldest air mass of the season builds in over the area.”

Today we will see showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 PM.  Temperatures today will climb to the low 60’s.  Overnight tonight, we will have 100% chance of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 20 miles-per-hour. By Monday, the chance of rain drops down to 30%, but we will see temperatures falling throughout the day into the upper 30’s by nightfall.  Overnight on Monday, temperatures are expected to drop into the low 20’s and some residual, wrap-around moisture could bring some snow showers to the area.

Temperatures will remain cold throughout the week with highs in the 40’s and lows in the 30’s.
