A Summerville man, who was the editor of The Calhoun-Times newspaper, has resigned his position at the paper after being charged with DUI in Floyd County at the end of November.
Rome Police say that thirty-seven-year-old Daniel Bell of Back Penn Road in Summerville, was observed weaving on Martha Berry Boulevard. When officers stopped Bell, they say that he had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words. Bell tested for almost twice the legal limit on an alcohol-sensor test.
Rome Police also recovered a small case with a cigar pack with two buds of marijuana inside it, a marijuana grinder, and a glass smoking pipe in the vehicle that Bell was driving.
Bell resigned his position at the Calhoun newspaper last week.
