Everyone knows that things have been very different this Christmas Season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Families that are used to large gatherings have had to take safeguards to protect vulnerable family members to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. Santa Claus is no exception to taking those precautions, but he was able to get in some last-minute Christmas toy requests from local children – via social media.
Before he loaded up his sleigh and hitched up the reindeer, Santa Claus, with the help of Chattooga County State Court Judge Jon Dennis, took time out of his very busy Christmas Eve schedule to do a Facebook live event for all the kids who didn’t get to do an in-person Santa visit this year.
Normally, Santa has multiple events where kids from Chattooga County and the surrounding area can come and visit, but this year those events were very limited – and of course Santa had to practice social distancing.
Judge Dennis told WZQZ News that Santa is wishing everyone in Chattooga County a Merry Christmas, and his prayer is that next year, Christmas visits with Santa will be back to normal.
