Town of Trion residents and property owners will see a tax increase on bills being sent out this week.
A vote at last Tuesday nights meeting passed in favor of increasing property taxes in the Town. A new mileage rate of 13.448 was approved, up 1.4 mills from the last increase. This should equal out to about $25 per bill.

The Town’s property value decreased by about $10.8 million after giving Mount Vernon Mills an increase in their Freeport tax. Mount Vernon was given a 20% increase in the Freeport tax.

Trion residents should be receiving the bills in the next week. These bills are due by February 26th and can be paid at Town Hall.
