Tuesday,  newly sworn in Chattooga County Commissioner, Blake Elsberry posted that he is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Director.
Joe Reed, who currently holds the position of Public Works Director has applied for his job, according to Commissioner Elsberry though his duties will be different if he gets it.

WZQZ spoke with Commissioner Elsberry on Wdnesday about the position and the job description. Currently all directors such as Water District director and the animal shelter report to the Public Works Director.

Commissioner Elsberry plans on changing that. “I don’t know how it was done previously, I wasn’t here”, said Elsberry. Going forward all directors will report directly to the Commissioner. Commissioner Elsberry said he plans on accepting applications for the position for two weeks before deciding on someone for the position.

There has been a lot of interest in the job, but few applicants so far, according to Commissioner Elsberry.
