
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office confirms 31 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, deputies tested 42 of the 178 inmates for the virus. After the tests 31 came back positive for COVID-19, and 11 came back negative.
He says, the jails first positive case was not discovered until the middle of December 2020.
Sheriff Wilson tells us all inmates are being treated by the jails medical staff, and those who tested positive are in quarantine.
Deputies say so far, no one had to be hospitalized because of a positive test, and all inmates appear to be asymptomatic.
