Over the weekend Chattooga County Sheriff Deputies responded to Wal-Mart in reference to a harassment call.

Upon arriving Deputies spoke with a Ms. Paisley Rowland where she stated that a Mr. William Barbee was following her throughout the store and had yelled her name. Ms. Rowland said that when she started to walk away that Mr. Barbee approached her and “got into” her face. Mr. Barbee then supposedly said “if you talk to my sister, tell her to get her *** off my porch.” Ms. Rowland states that after she told Mr. Barbee that she didn’t want to be in between any family issues, that Mr. Barbee that called her several offense names along with some other foul words. She stated that Mr. Barbee was very scary and that she wanted a report in order to take steps towards a temporary protection order.

After meeting with Ms. Rowland, Deputies were informed that Mr. Barbee was at the Sheriff’s Office and wanted to meet as well. Barbee advised that he was at Wal-Mart and had spoken with Ms. Rowland. He does admit to yelling her name but states that he spoke to her after that in a calm manner. Mr. Barbee states that Ms. Rowland yelled offensive language at him and he walked away to call 911.

Deputies advised Mr. Barbee to stay away from Ms. Rowland and not to contact her further. They advised Ms. Rowland of the TPO process.
