Last Friday Chattooga County Sheriff Deputies responded to a suspicious burglary call at a Roberts Street address.
On January 29th, 2021 Deputies were dispatched to Roberts St. in Summerville for a theft call. Arriving at the scene, Deputies spoke with Jeffery Wayne Gordy. Mr. Gordy stated that someone had cut the screws out of the fan and took the fan out of the rear of his building, went inside and stole numerous items such as 1 king size bed spread, 6 bags of cans, 1 pitch fork, 1 post hole digger, 1 mattock and 1 door and door frame.
When asked how would the person get the door out of the building, as the hole they supposedly entered through was smaller than the stolen door, Mr. Gordy responded that he didn’t know. Mr. Gordy then said that the individuals must have came in through the door, that the lock was turned around the wrong way.
When the fan and the saw Gordy said was used to cut the screws out to take the fan out was inspected, Deputies noted that everything was very rusty and nothing had any scratches or clean spots where the rust had been knocked off from sawing or moving it to be taken out of the block building.
The case has been turned over to Investigations.
