The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Northeast Alabama, including Mentone and DeKalb, County just west of Chattooga County for tonight and into Tuesday.
According to the NOAA Weather Service office in Hunstville, up to an inch of freezing rain and snow and up to a quarter-inch of ice is possible, especially in the higher elevations. The conditions could lead to power outages and travel problems.
For now, the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that there is the potential for some freezing rain in the higher elevations in Northwest Georgia. While a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued, there are no watches or warnings for Northwest Georgia, as of Sunday morning.
