If you haven’t yet paid your 2020 property taxes, you should be expecting a letter in the mail, according to Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton.

Joy Hampton posted a notice yesterday that the 2020 tax bills were due on December 1st. If these have not yet been paid an Intent to Fi Fa letter will be sent out.

Per Joy:

“Letters are going out to anyone who hasn’t yet paid their 2020 tax bill (these were due December 1st, 2020). This is an Intent to Fi Fa letter, which notifies you that a tax lien will be placed on the property if not paid within 30 days. While law allows this letter to be sent on December 2nd each year, I like to wait until Spring to allow extra time if you’re waiting on a tax return.
You can mail your payment, pay in office, or pay online at www.chattoogatax.com. Don’t delay- check your property online to be sure your bill is paid.
I appreciate the chance to serve as your tax commissioner!”
