On Friday, the Trion Fire Department responded to a refuse fire on the side of the road.
Trion Fire officials say that someone set the fire at 3456 Spring Creek Road and left it to burn.
It is unlawful in Georgia to burn man made materials such as tires, shingles, plastics, lumber, or household garbage, even in a burn barrel. For more information on backyard burning, visit www.epd.ga.gov .
Chattooga County offers free dumpster sites at convenience centers around the county and other waste items can be taken to the Chattooga County Transfer Station for a small fee.

Why can’t at least one of the dump sites be open all the time? Some of us can’t get there during hours of operation and have to rely on others.
