Chattooga County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a report of theft that occured Wednesday in the Menlo area.

According to reports, Deputies were dispatched in regards to a theft, and when arriving spoke with the two complainants regarding such. The complainants reported that around 1 a.m. a dark gray, lifted SUV type vehicle had been spotted in their driveway while they were asleep. The SUV left when some neighbors left and followed that car all the way from Menlo to the intersection of Highway 136 and East Armuchee road in Walker County.

Prior to calling the Sheriffs office, it was noted that a broken down vehicle, parked behind a storage shed was now missing the wheels, tires, and a sunvisors. The vehicle had been placed on blocks to keep it from sitting on the groud as well.

Both complainants advised that they suspected an ex spouse of the theft as they drive a vehicle similar to the one seen exiting the driveway and lives in the area where it was last spotted in Walker County. The Ex is not allowed on the property due to a lifetime protection order.

A report was placed on file at the Sheriffs office.
