Today marks the  32nd day of the 40-day session of the Georgia General Assembly.  With Friday off, lawmakers are scheduled to wrap up for the year on March 31.

Lawmakers are expected to be considering a number of bills that would affect how citizens vote, including provisions to limit absentee, early and provisional voting.  Some of those GOP-backed bills are earning criticism from voting rights advocates.  However, the Republican leadership says that Georgia’s election security is priority and that the system needs an overhaul.

Chattooga County residents that would like to voice their opinion on the bills that are up for vote between now and the end of the legislative session can contact their State Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee).  Chattooga County has two state senators. Most of the county is represented by State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga), but a small portion in the Southeastern part of the county is represented by State Senator Chuck Hufstetller (R-Rome.)
