Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry is reportedly eyeing a local fire station as a possibility for a remote dump site for county residents on the east-side of Taylor’s Ridge.

For several years, residents in the Gore and Subligna areas have had to bring their trash to Summerville after the county closed the convenience center in the Little Egypt area.  Residents in that area of the county say that they feel that they are being left out when it comes to county services.  There are currently five dump sites in the county, and none of them serve the communities to the east of Taylor’s Ridge.

Gore Fire Chief John King is talking with the county government about the possibility of having a convenience center located at the Gore Fire Hall.  The fire hall sits on enough property to allow for a fenced-in area for dumpsters and King says that the dumpsters could possibly be manned by volunteer fire fighters.

Commissioner Elsberry is currently exploring the idea.
