The Georgia State Senate passed a resolution this week honoring President Carter.

It said, in part “WHEREAS, we honor President Jimmy Carter for his leadership at home and worldwide as a reflective, compassionate, and humble leader.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the outstanding and longstanding accomplishments of President Jimmy Carter; show appreciation for his dedication to the State of Georgia, the United States, and the world; and congratulate him on being the longest living United States President. “

The resolution lists just some of the accomplishments for Carter, including serving as former Governor of Georgia and former Georgia State Senator, receiving a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, being a global human rights activist, and becoming the longest living U.S. president at 96 years old.
