A Dalton man was arrested over the weekend after a foot pursuit with local law enforcement. Summerville Police Officers charged Brandon Ball with multiple offenses following the chase.
While on stationary, observing traffic Officers noticed a male and female standing outside of a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Circle K gas station. The male subject retrieved a backpack from the truck and placed it on his back. When the truck left the male was observed walking around the back of the building and did not return.
After locating the male appearing to hide at the back of the store, Officers approached him and asked for his identification. The man gave a false name twice, John Riley and then John Riley Griffin. When Officers asked him to take off the backpack, the subject fled on foot.
The chase ended behind the storage units after the male subject was trapped by a security fence. After a failed tazing attempt, Officers were able to taze the subject when he attempted to climb the security fence. The backpack was discovered hanging in a tree across the fence, and a search of the subject revealed his name to be Brandon Devon Aaron Ball, of Dalton. Ball was found to have approximately 2 pounds of marijuana, 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, and over $800 in cash. After being medically cleared, Ball was transported to the Chattooga County Jail where he was found to have more suspected marijuana on his person.
Ball was charged with a litany of offenses which including possession, intent to distribute, and crossing the guard line with weapons or drugs.
