A thirty-two-year-old Rome man that is accused of shooting another man in the head on Monday is facing additional charges.

Rome Police arrested Jeffrey Alfred Shedrick and charged him with shooting thirty-nine-year-old Scott Dennis Hayes in the back of the head behind Riverside Toyota.

Reports said that before being arrested at the drive thru at the East Rome McDonald’s Shedrick threw the gun out on the highway while being a passenger in a vehicle. He is also accused of placing the clothing he wore during the murder in a garbage bag and throwing it in a dumpster at the Okinawa Hibachi & Sushi restaurant in Adairsville.

It has also been determined that Shedrick is a convicted felon, thus not allowed to possess a gun. Charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence has been added to his rap sheet which also now include murder and tampering with evidence.

The victim, Scott Dennis Hayes, has died as a result of his gunshot wounds.
