The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Summerville man on Thursday.

The accident happened on West Armuchee Road in Walker County when a 2002 Ford F-150 left the roadway and struck a culvert and vaulted into the air.

According to the preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol, sixty-six-year-old Ricky L. Portwood was attempting to negotiate a curve when the accident happened.

The vehicle rolled after vaulting and Portwood was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The Georgia State Patrol says the report on the crash is not complete at this time.
