Georgia native Alan Jackson is releasing a new album this spring and makes no bones about it being hard-core country music. Jackson, who grew up in Coweta County, talked with his hometown newspaper, The Newnan Times-Herald about the new album.
Jackson told the paper, “It’s a little harder country than I’ve done in the past.” Jackson wrote all of the songs on the album – the old fashioned way. Instead of sitting down and collaborating with a group of Nashville writers, Jackson wrote the songs for the album alone. Jackson was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the same time as another Georgia-boy, Bill Anderson, in 2018.
The title cut of the album “Where Have You Gone” sets the tone for the release. The song is basically a lost-love song about country music. In Jackson’s common-man poetic form, he longs for the time when country music told a story and was filled with steel guitars and fiddles. The album is set for release May 14th.
