Workers began repairs on the roof of the Chattooga County Courthouse yesterday and are expected to complete the project at a cost of $65,000.

Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry put out bids for the repair of the roof on the building that was built originally in 1909.  The winning bid went to American Roofing Company in Summerville and will cost $65,000.

The Summerville News reported last week that the commissioner is seeking insurance claims for other county buildings roofs that are in desperate need of repair, including the EMA / 911 building, the Chattooga County Senior Center and a building at the public works facilities on Stockade Road.
