An eight-year-old was killed and a woman was injured in a vehicle crash in Walker County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Shortly after 4:45 p.m., a GSP post was requested to investigate a two-vehicle crash on Georgia Highway 1 at Wheeler Road, between LaFayette and Rock Spring.
According to GSP, a gold Oldsmobile Alero was traveling north on Highway and crossed into the south lanes, striking a Hyundai Kona that was traveling south.
The driver of the Hyundai vehicle, Cara Casey Blalock, was injured and transported to a local hospital.
The passenger of the Hyundai vehicle, eight-year-old Sarah English, was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased after arriving.
The driver of the Oldsmobile vehicle, Cody A. Gann, was the only occupant of the vehicle and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
