A Radio Flyer wagon was reported stolen earlier this week when a Smith Street resident accused a local homeless man of stealing his child’s Radio Flyer wagon.

Summerville City Police Officers met with Thomas Maddux at his Smith Street address, where Maddux stated that his child’s wagon had been taken two days prior.  Maddux told Officers that a homeless man had been given permission to in the past to borrow the wagon, but he had not this time. Maddux advised the homeless man that he would be calling the Officers if the wagon was not returned in two days.

Officers did not locate the homeless man at his normal area, but they did discover his later near Thomas Madduxs residence after receiving a tip. The suspect told Officers that Thomas Maddux had given him the wagon prior, but after cleaning it up, he had decided to return it to Maddux.  He said he borrowed the wagon to haul off some shelves for Mr. Maddux’s Mother-In-Law.

After speaking briefly, Maddux stated that he just wanted the wagon returned, however he later changed his mind and called the Summerville PD to inquire about pressing charges. Maddux was referred to Magistrate Court.
