Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that he is still searching for a site for a county convenience center dump site in the Menlo area.

Elsberry said that he has talked with several property owners in the Menlo area about locating a county dump site, but to date, he has not found a suitable location.

The commissioner said that the county doesn’t own property and in order to lease a site, he wants to make sure that all the surrounding property owners are okay with the idea.

Several possibilities have fallen through because neighboring property owners won’t sign on to the idea of a dump site in their area, according to Elsberry.

The Menlo dump site has been closed since the end of March after new property owners told the county that they no longer wanted the convenience center located on their property.
