LaFayette Square in 2018

Almost three years ago, the look of downtown LaFayette, Georgia changed drastically when a building in the historic area collapsed.  Now, the City of LaFayette has decided to purchase the lots where the building stood.

The City of LaFayette City Council decided to purchase the vacant lots on the East side of the downtown square.

Following an executive session to discuss the matter, a motion was made and approved to purchase the lots vacated by a building collapse.

The money for the purchase will come from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
