On Thursday, the Summerville Police Department issued a statement on social media about an ongoing scam concerning Georgia Power customers.

Summerville Police posted:

It has been brought to our attention that multiple residents in the City of Summerville have received calls from scammers posing as Georgia Power representatives stating that their bill was past due and a payment needed to be made immediately. The scammers then advised the customer to make a payment at the local Circle K. This is a scam. If your receive this call please contact our office 706-859-0912.
