There will be a special called meeting of the Town of Trion Council Thursday, April 18, at the Town Hall Conference Room.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m.
The council will discuss: the purchase of a new fire truck; awarding a bid an industrial water line; and waste water treatment plant emergency repairs.
The emergency repairs at the waste water treatment plant, there have been power problems at the plant with some of the pumps shutting off. The pumps are reset but the council wants to alleviate the possibility of future problems.
Neighbors in the Carver Street area of Lafayette tell police that a 25-year-old man has been sexually harassing women in the area.
Clifford Snyder Junior was picked up Saturday night and charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and sexual battery.
When police responded Saturday night, they found a group of people arguing in front of the apartments on Carver Street. A 17-year-old female said Snyder had entered her apartment uninvited, touched her on the buttocks and refused to leave. Police say they have several witnesses to back up her account.
The State Institution and Properties Committee toured Hays State Prison last Thursday.
The group charged with overseeing Georgia's correction policy joined the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Corrections and met with Hays officials and toured the prison.
Warden Rick Jacobs said he explained to the group, where the prison was, where it is now, and where it is going, emphasizing where the prison is going and the progress that has been made since the murders at the end of last year and the beginning of this year.
Jacobs said he was excited for the staff, who received many accolades and compliments from the visitors for the progress made.
