A Beavers Road home reportedly was burglarized on Monday. Rebecca Sue Martin told Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies that she left for work that morning and returned that afternoon, she noticed a living room lamp was on, and when she went to enter her home, the front door was unlocked. Martin said when she entered her home, she said she noticed her hutch doors were open and end tables had been removed, with the contents on the foor. She said she noticed her son's bedroom light was on and that the dressers had been removed and the contents placed on the foor and on the bed. She said her bedroom light was on and the window had been broken out. Also, her dresser and night stand drawers had been removed and the contents also placed on the floor and bed. According to the report, the house was in such disarray that Martin was only sure of $15 in coins missing. Martin said a similar incident had occurred on December 6 of this year. She said she hadn't reported that incident. At that time, entry was gained by pushing in a window air conditioning unit. Taken in the earlier incident was a black .32 caliber handgun with brown grips and medication. The incident was turned over to investigators.

A few months ago a Chattooga County woman used someone elses computer to pay a bill online. Since then she has noticed unauthorized transactions on the credit that she used to pay that bill. Sarah Treadaway reported to the Chattooga County  Sheriff's Department on Tuesday that she has noticed five unauthorized transactions on her bank credit card. All five of those were made in November and they total almost $111.00. 

The Walker County Sheriff's Department found a meth lab at a rural Kensington area home.Three people were arrested on Drug Charges: Casey Lee Gamble of West Highway 136, charged with trafficking meth; Howard Samuel Cox, Ponderosa Drive, charged with possession with intent to distribute; and Kristie Lynn Shaw of Lyndale, charged with posstssion of meth materials. Police were led to the home when a neighbor called 911 after a man with a small stab wound came to his door for assistance.

There was alookout earler this week for a missing 12-year-old boy from Chattanooga. Now he's in custody, charged with a purse snatching and car theft at the Rossville Bi-Lo. The 86-year-old victim said the boy snatched her purse in the store, and when she went out to her car, the car was gone. The car was recovered in good shape but with lots of miles on the odometer. The 12-year-old apparently did a lot of driving before he was taken into custody. The victim's purse, minus some cash, also was recovered.

A Calhoun man who allegedly had more than 28 grams of methamphetamine while on Ga. 53 was in the Floyd County Jail on Thursday, according to jail reports.

According to the reports:

Nadir Ajij Hermani, 20, of 1633 S. Wall St., Calhoun, had the controlled substance near the intersection of Ga. 53 and Ga. 140 on Oct. 10.

He was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Hermani was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine.

He remained in jail Thursday night without bond and with a hold for ICE.

Flags in Georgia will fly at half-staff to mourn the victims of a deadly school shooting in Connecticut.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed an order Friday requiring that U.S. and state flags be lowered at state buildings and grounds until sunset on Dec. 18.

Deal says the residents of Georgia share the grief of the family and friends of those who were killed and injured in Newtown, Conn.

Connecticut police say 27 people died at the school, including the gunman. Authorities say one person was killed at a second scene.

A federal study released Thursday shows Georgia ranks below the national average and Southeastern states in alcohol-related traffic fatalities for 2011. The data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that from 2010 to 2011, the state experienced 24 fewer traffic deaths, which accounts for a 1.9 percent reduction; and 22 fewer alcohol-impaired driving deaths, which represents a 7.4% reduction. Georgia was shown to be 5 percent better than the national average of total reduction in alcohol-related fatalities.

The Governor's Office Of Highway Safety warns that "if you don't drive sober, you'll get pulled over." Impaired drivers will go to jail, even if it's Christmas, they warn. Before drinking, make sure to designate a sober driver. If you're impaired, call a taxi or a sober friend to pick you up. the GOHS reminds motorists: If you're over the limit, you're under arrest.
