Summerville City Council Called Meeting

The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting coming up tomorrow evening at Summerville City Hall.  The purpose of the meeting is to approve travel expenses for the finalists for the Summerville City Manager’s position.  The council will also go into executive session for a discussion about the applicants for city manager.  The public is invited to attend to the meeting that will be held at 5:30 PM.  You can see an agenda for tomorrow evening’s meeting below:

Two Plead Guilty Hunting Deer At Chickamauga Battlefield

Chickamauga and Chattanoooga National Military Park

Two Northwest Georgia men have pleaded guilty to hunting deer on federal park land. William Lough from Trenton and Jonathan Plaster from Rossville both pleaded guilty in federal court. Both face fines. They were both charged with illegal hunting of 2 white-tailed deer on park land. Park officials say they’ve seen a spike in illegal hunting on park land in the Lookout Creek area in Lookout Valley. The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park does include land on and next to Lookout Mountain, plus several sites in Chattanooga. Park officials ask that if you see someone hunting on military park land, please call 911.

New NOAA Aircraft Will Be Made In Georgia

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced that it is exercising a $106 million contract option with Georgia-based Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation to purchase a fully modified G550 aircraft that will be specially configured to support hurricane and tropical storm forecasts, atmospheric research and other NOAA missions.

Tickets On Sale For Chattooga Curtain Call’s “Peter Pan”

Tickets are on sale now for this year’s Chattooga Curtain Call – Peter Pan Jr.  This summer kids have attended drama camp and will be putting on their production coming up next month. The production will be held at North Summerville Baptist Church, located at 119 Maplewood Drive in Summerville on Friday August 2nd and Saturday August 3rd.   Both nights at 7 PM.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any cast member of the play or at North Summerville Baptist Church fellowship hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 PM – 8 PM.

The Town of Trion will have a regular Workshop / Council Meeting in the Town Hall Conference Room, this Thursday, July 25, 2024. The Workshop will begin at 6 PM and the Regular Meeting will follow shortly after.
