Chattooga Republicans Meeting Thursday

The Chattooga County Republican Party will meet Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 6 pm at the Senior Center on Senior Drive. Expected guests include Justin Kelley with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office. All Republicans, including local elected officials, and all who are considering running for elected office are invited and encouraged to attend. Primary elections are expected to be among discussion topics.

Mrs. Nancy White McDaniel, Obit (ER)

MRS. NANCY WHITE MCDANIEL, age 90, of Ellen Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was born in Lyerly, Georgia, on April 23, 1931, to the late Wallace and Sarah McLeod Smith. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of the Pennville Community Church and for over thirty years was a nurse at Chattooga Hospital. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed painting, crafts, and ceramics. She served as a Girl Scout leader , was a dedicated military wife, traveling extensively through Europe with four children, enriching their cultural and world view of life. She had a love of travel, new places, and experiences. She was preceded in death by her, husband the late Earl McDaniel.

NFPA Urges Caution With Home Heating

The National Fire Protection Association  (NFPA) is urging the public to use added caution when heating their homes during the winter months, when nearly half (48 percent) of all U.S. home heating equipment fires occur. Home heating equipment is the second-leading cause of U.S. home fires and home fire injuries, and the third-leading cause of home fire deaths and direct property damage.

Fence Damaged From Fire

A Henderson Road, Trion woman called the sheriff’s department after a fire destroyed a fence on her property.  When a deputy arrived on the scene, the complainant said that a fire had started near the wood line on her property and showed the responding deputy the damage to the fence.  The complainant said she had no idea how the fire started and estimated the damage to be around $1,000.  The complainant asked for a report to be on file about the incident.
