It looks like the City of Summerville and the Town of Trion could soon be sharing a building inspector. Both the Trion Town Council and the Summerville City Council have passed measures authorizing the mayor of Trion and the interim city manager of Summerville to negotiate the particulars of how sharing a joint building inspector would work.

A post on social media this week had some people thinking that Leslie’s Burger Shack in Summerville was closing – but it was a case of mistaken identity. While it is true that the Burger Shack in nearby Cedar Bluff, Alabama is closing – the local Burger Shack on Rome Boulevard (U.S. Highway 27) in Summerville remains open.
Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton says that mobile home tax bills are being delayed and will not be in mailboxes this week as expected. The tax commissioner told WZQZ News that the bills are printed in Chattanooga and the printer is experiencing worker shortages and was not able to get the bills in time. Hampton said that even though mobile home taxes in Georgia are due on April 1st of each year, because of this delay, Chattooga County mobile home owners tax bills won’t be counted late until April 10, 2023.
