The countdown to the Georgia Senate Runoff Election is on and the stakes are high. Incumbent Republican Senator David Perdue is neck-in-neck in most polls with Democrat John Ossoff.
The Chattooga High School girls and boys basketball teams were scheduled to travel to Murray County to play today, but the games have been canceled. According to Murray County School officials, their teams are in quarantine and will not be able to host the games. The Chattooga Indians next games are scheduled for Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at home when the Indians will be taking on Fannin County.
The day passed largely unnoticed, but Chattooga County celebrated a “birthday” yesterday. The county was formed by an act of the Georgia General Assembly and was officially constituted on December 28, 1838.

A Georgia lawmaker has pre-filed two bills for the upcoming session of the Georgia General Assembly regarding changing clock in the spring and fall. Senator Ben Watson, a Republican from Savannah, wants voters to decide if they want to stay on standard time or daylight savings time – all year long.
Watson has called for a non-binding referendum asking Georgians whether they would rather the state observe standard time all year, daylight saving time all year, or whether they would rather continue switching between the two.
Georgia gas prices increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.08 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 4 cents more than a week ago, 12 cents more than last month, and 33 cents less than this time last year.
