Former correctional officer Michael L. Jones pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to provide prison inmates with methamphetamine, marijuana, and tobacco, all of which were destined to be smuggled into Floyd County Correctional Institution (“FCCI”) in Rome, Georgia.
On Sunday of this week, a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call about damage to property on Roberts Street. When the deputy arrived he spoke with the complainant who said that twenty-five-year-old Miguel Pierce had thrown a rock and shattered the glass in a door, and then threw a rock at the complainant. The responding deputy determined that Pierce had active warrants and advised Summerville Police who apprehended Pierce near Alexander Street in Summerville. In addition to his outstanding warrants, Miguel Pierce was charged with criminal trespass in connection with the incident.
