Lyerly Man Reports Trailer, Other Items Stolen

According to the most recent records from the county sheriff’s department, a Lyerly man reported several items stolen from his property last Saturday morning.

When a county deputy met with victim Ronald Padgett at his Ragland Road address, Padgett said that rough-cut lumber, his tractor injector, and his 16-foot tandem trailer had all been stolen.

The theft is under investigation by the sheriff’s department.

Chattooga County 4H Shotgun Team Annual Fundraiser

The Chattooga County 4H Shotgun Team will promote its 2nd annual turkey shoot on Saturday, November 17th, at 10 AM.

The location will be the Chattooga County Ag Center. The team’s annual fundraiser supports its youth competing in district and state competitions, as well as buying supplies.

County Firefighters Undergo Training Program

A group of 40 Chattooga County firefighters recently underwent an intensive training program in Orlando, FL.

According to the Gore Fire Dept., every firefighter excelled at 32-hour program.

During the four day program, the group focused on improving technical rescue capabilities and building rapport between the local departments.

Their  instruction company is called Fireground & Special Operations Concepts.

Volunteers Welcome to Decorate Sloppy Floyd Park for Holidays

Friends of the Park posted on their Facebook page that the park will be decorated for the holidays on Saturday morning, November 10, beginning at 9 AM.

They are welcoming anyone who would like to lend a helping hand in getting the park looking festive.

Lights will be on each weekend beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Armuchee Man Threatens to Kill Elderly Father, Two Others

Mark Winfrord Poole, 50 of Armuchee, was jailed this week after police said he threatened his 80 year-old father with physical violence.

Reports added that Poole also threatened to kill two others before dragging their dead bodies to the woods.  The other victims were 21 and 18 years of age.

Poole is charged with simple assault, three coutns terroristic threats and acts and intimidation of the elderly.
