The Chattooga County Board of Elections has officially approved a plan to consolidate three local voting precincts, a move that will create a new, larger precinct named “Gore” and change the polling location for hundreds of area voters.

In a decision announced via public notice, the board voted to merge the existing precincts of Haywood and Subligna into the Dirttown precinct. The combined territory will now be known as the Gore precinct. The new, centralized polling place for all voters in the Gore precinct will be the Gore Fire Hall, located at 9 Gore Fire Hall Road, Summerville, GA.

This change primarily affects registered voters in the Haywood and Subligna areas, who will no longer report to their former polling locations. Instead, they will join voters from the former Dirttown precinct at the Gore Fire Hall to cast their ballots in future elections. To ensure a smooth transition, the Board of Elections will mail new Voter Registration cards to all registered voters residing in the former Haywood and Subligna precincts. These cards will reflect the updated precinct name and the new polling location.

Officials have confirmed the new cards will be sent to voters prior to the next General Election, scheduled for November 4, 2025. Voters are encouraged to watch their mail and review their new cards upon arrival to familiarize themselves with the change.
