A Chattooga County man facing 41 felony counts related to manufacturing and distributing child pornography and unlawfully video recording individuals without consent was denied bond Wednesday in Chattooga County Superior Court.

Michael Lance Brown, 36, of Cloudland, Georgia, appeared before Judge Melissa Hice, who delivered a strong rebuke, finding him to be “calculating,” “devious,” a “threat to the community,” and “likely to reoffend.”

Brown was arrested on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, on the serious felony charges.

During the bond hearing, Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader was present, and testimony was heard from Investigator Burrage. The Lookout Mountain Assistant District Attorney read the hearing, including powerful impact statements from three of the alleged victims.

In her ruling, Judge Hice also noted that the investigation, being conducted by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Department of Homeland Security, was still in its early stages. This early stage, she indicated, did not warrant granting Brown bond at this time.

Brown currently faces 41 separate charges related to the allegations.
