While out and about doing your holiday shopping, take a break to discover and enjoy Rome’s intown historic areas beautifully trimmed in their holiday best. The Rome Area Heritage Foundation(RAHF) will present trolley tours of Rome’s historic neighborhoods on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The route will include highlights from Avenue A, Between the Rivers, East Rome, South Rome and Oakdene.
The Salvation Army will hold its annual “Holiday Can-a-Thon” this coming Friday, November 30th at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds. It will start at 7 AM and last until 1 PM.
They will be receiving donations of canned goods that can be donated to families in need.
The charitable effort works to reduce food scarcity in the Rome and Floyd County area, annually providing well over 1000 households each year with something to eat.

The Dollar General Store on Commerce Street in Summerville is planning a Toy Drive and fundraiser that will benefit Toys for Tots and Santa in Uniform.

The Family Crisis Center will offer a FREE Self Defense class on Saturday, December 8th. It will begin at 1 PM at The Chattanooga KRAV located in East Ridge, TN.

As a reminder, the Trion Town Council will not be meeting this week (that is, the week of November 18-24).
Though the council normally meets for its regular session on the fourth Thursday of each month, it voted at October’s meeting to move November’s regular session to Tuesday, November 27th, to accommodate for the week of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
It will still be held at 6 PM at Town Hall. WZQZ will have a reporter present on the November 27th meeting to report on the highlights in subsequent newscasts and online posts.
