Fall Festival at New Hope North Baptist

New Hope North Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to their Fall Festival this Saturday, Nov. 13th beginning at 3pm.

Activities will include: Hayrides, chili cookoff, facepainting, hotdogs, cake walk and more.

Pastor Chris Nixon would like for everyone to come out and enjoy the fun and fellowship with the church family.

Community-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner

Preparations are underway for the 15th annual community wide Thanksgiving dinner to be held on November 25th at Son Rise Community Church, located in the Save a lot shopping center. Names are now accepted for residents of Chattooga County who want to receive a meal. Meals are provided free of charge to individuals who live alone, or are homebound and those who cannot afford a meal.Donations of food, money and volunteer time are needed. If you or your church or business would like to help in any way contact Jim at 706-936-5508, Liz at 706-936-4467, Nancy at 706-857-1368.  The dead line will be Friday November 19th.

Reception sponsored by the Chattooga Chapter of the Blind and Visually Impaired

On Tuesday, November 17th from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM,  There will be a drop by or stay as long as you wish time of appreciation from the Members of The Chattooga Chapter of the Blind and Visually Impaired. The event will take place in the Chattooga Room of the Summerville Branch of the Chattooga County Library.  There will be good food and a very special time of appreciation. 
Many groups, pastors and churches, elected officials and others will be recognized for their dedication and support of helping the blind and visually impaired.  Everyone is welcomed to come by and visit and learn more about vision loss, vision resources, braille, and the American and Georgia Council of the Blind.  For more information or any questions, please contact Marsha Farrow 706.857.2968.

City of Summerville Meetings

The City of Summerville will have their work session and regular monthly  meeting on Monday, September 14 beginning at 5pm, at city hall.

Adult Summer Programs at Chattooga Library

The Chattooga Library has several adult summer programs for adults.

Tuesday, June 16, between 4 and 7:30pm, representatives form local parks and community groups will be available to show you how to enjoy your leisure time.

Learn how to create a healthy meal in a microwave, Tuesday, June 23, at 1pm.  Rebecca Brewer Thomas, county extension agent, will give tips on how to prepare a nutritious meal in minutes.  Registration is required for this activity.

On Tuesday, June 30, at 7pm, Rebecca will teach you how to stretch your dollars and meet personal financial goals by attending this workshop on budgeting.

There will also be an andult art contest,my Vision of Chattooga County".  Submit artwork such as a photo or drawing that depicts how you see Chattooga Co. through artwork.  Call the library at 706-857-2553 for more information on how to submit your artwork.

Also, you can fill out & submit a review of a book or an audio book that you read or listen to between June 1 through July 31, 2009.  Submission forms can be picked up at the library’s front desk.
