The tall Texan first hit #1 in 1993 with “Holdin’ Heaven” and has continued releasing hits “Watermelon Crawl,” “Big Love,” “I’m From The Country,” “Ten Rounds of Jose Cuervo,” “Drinkin’ Bone,” and “The Keeper of the Stars,” which went on to win the CMA Song of the Year honor.

That he was a selfless Naval pilot in the South Pacific… That he was an Ambassador to China… the head of the CIA… a Vice President… a leader… a hero… an example of being a gentlemanly force on the world stage… That he was fortunate enough to have been married to one of the most wonderful women who ever walked this planet? TULSA, Okla. – Roy Clark, the legendary ‘superpicker’, GRAMMY, CMA and ACMaward winner, Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry member and co-host of the famed ‘Hee Haw’ television series, died today at the age of 85 due to complications from pneumonia at home in Tulsa, Okla.
