Residents of Chattooga County and the wider Northwest Georgia region can anticipate a significant shift in weather as the weekend unfolds. After a period of persistent rain and humidity, a cold front sweeping through the area today is set to usher in a predominantly sunny and dry forecast headed into next week.

Week 7 of the 2025 high school football season kicks off tonight and both of our local teams will be playing at home tonight!
Tonight is Homecoming at Sam R. McCain Stadium in Trion and the Bulldogs will welcome the Manchester Blue Devils to start their region slate this season. Trion is 2-3 on the season and are coming off a bye week last week. Trion lost at home two weeks ago to Lafayette 32-14. The Manchester Blue Devils are also 2-3 this season with losses to Harris County, Upson Lee, and Spencer. Manchester’s two wins came against Macon County and last week in a 47-13 win over Chapel Hill.
Chattooga earned their first victory of the season last week on the road at Armuchee 45-27 where the Indians nearly doubled their total points scored for the whole season in one game. With the win, Chattooga moved to 1-4 on the season and will welcome the Gordon Lee Trojans into the Little Big Horn tonight. Gordon Lee is off to a great start this year with a 3-1 record. The Trojans notched a 23-12 win over Trion in their season opener and have also gone on to defeat Lafayette and Christian Heritage. Gordon Lee’s only loss on the season came three weeks ago on the road at Heritage 28-21.
Both games will be broadcast live on the WZQZ Facebook page tonight. The Trion vs Manchester game will also be carried live on 99.1 FM and AM 1180. Jeremy Burke and Paul Cavin along with cameraman Jim Warnock and engineer Sam Kohler will bring you the action from the Trion vs Manchester game. Chris “Bubba” Wilson, Steiner Davis and cameraman Mason Gilreath will call the action for the Chattooga vs Gordon Lee game.
Kickoff for both games is at 7:30 pm.

This week, the Summerville Police Department has announced an arrest following an investigation into burglaries and thefts dating back to August. Terry Stallings, 51, of Summerville, was taken into custody on August 28 and faces charges of Burglary 2nd Degree and Theft by Taking (3rd or Subsequent) Felony.
