A July 4th disturbance in Chattooga County escalated into a police pursuit and the recovery of a stolen firearm, leading to the arrest of an intoxicated man who allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home and attempted to sell a weapon.
A routine traffic stop in Trion resulted in the arrest of a 54-year-old man on multiple felony drug charges, including possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Shawn Richard Wright, 54, was taken into custody by a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office Deputy after various controlled substances were reportedly discovered during the stop.
The State of Georgia reported net tax collections for June amounting to about $3.15 billion, which is an increase of $124.3 million, or 4.1%, compared to last year. The year-to-date net tax revenue reached roughly $33.62 billion, up $668.3 million, significantly influenced by the motor fuel excise tax, which had been suspended for a time last year. Adjusted for changes in the motor fuel tax, the year-to-date collections increased by $197.4 million, or 0.6%.
